Character eight and Character two from ScapeX

Another link from The Hat Rack. This one is magic.

“Martha”

Another rough sketch for “Friday Favorite Films,” because it’s late.
Fassbinder’s “Martha” a psychological horror movie.

Have a nice weekend.

More early work.

Cléo

Here is a really rough sketch from one of my very favorite French New Wave films, “Cléo from 5 to 7,” by the ‘Grandmother’ of New Wave, Agnes Varda.
I was watching this film again and thinking how much it’s like a blog, because it follows two hours of the life of a young woman.
This entry marks the return of “Friday Favorite Films,” a day late and a week early.
Frisky Jones wanted everyone to know that he is still here in spirit and loves these films as well, but will not be making his debut until much later.

My Old Friend Watercolor

Hi there,
I’m working on a series of watercolor paintings based on stills from my animation short “Migrations.” I wanted something tangible from the whole experience of making the film in Flash. The problem with making my film on the computer is that all of it is in pixels and light. Sure, I can get reproductions of the stills, but I still want the feeling of something that I have physically made.
When I made my thesis film I used watercolor cut-outs and shot it under an Oxberry camera. The whole experience of being in that image-making submarine was difficult and wonderful.
I still have all the parts of that piece and it’s nice to see the visible progress of making something move on film.
So, now I’m tracking backwards to get that whole feeling of making a film. I’ll see how it goes.

Shroud of Turin Jesus Tea Bags

I just made some tea bag shrouds. I’m offering a tea bag for free to the first five people who respond to this post.

I’m still trying to figure out how to get my blog shop up and going. I have a lot of questions about rules for selling my art online, for instance do I need a business license?

Collage

Beautiful collage from Gracia and Louise. Thank you!
